Carlson said Thursday that the Illinois senator’s stances on the Iraq war, the economy and green energy goals won him over.

Carlson, who served from 1991 to 1998, also cited recent comments by GOP Congresswoman Michele Bachmann questioning whether politicians have “pro-America or anti-America views.”

In addition to sabotaging our economy and putting “main street” at risk, the Republican back-benchers have also blind-sided John McCain’s campaign by keeping the bailout front and center for at least another week.

It’s clear now that the politics of the bailout is working against McCain; every day it dominates the news cycle is a bad day for the McCain camp.

Also, concerning Palin, I bet Romney wants “Sarah Palin to be Sarah Palin.” Because if she does that, McCain will lose handily and it’ll set up Romney perfectly for a 2012 run when the economy will STILL be on the front burner as the topic du jour.

I love it. Oh, I have no idea if I’ll like Palin as a candidate. I know she is socially conservative, which isn’t my thing.

And I know she’s a reformer, which is very much my thing. So I’ll give her a fair shake.
