The line everybody will be remembering?

“It’s a plan that begins with one word that’s on everybody’s mind. And it’s easy to spell.

J-O-B-S. Jobs.”

Barack Obama campaigned in Reno, Nev., Tuesday before a crowd of 12,000 people. But he didn't give a rip-roaring, crowd-pleasing speech.

Instead, the Democratic presidential nominee explained why middle-class Americans have a stake in the Wall Street bailout plan.

Members of Congress are mulling their role in the aftermath of this week's turbulence on Wall Street. A consensus is emerging among Democrats that financial markets need more regulation.

But in the short term, they're more focused on proposals to — as one put it — bail out the middle class.

What impressed me so much about this speech is Obama essentially reframed the American Dream tonight as something we can all share if we believe in the liberal traditions of fairness and equality.

So call him a fake and a phony all you want.

But tonight he called upon the middle class to take back a country that hasn’t been working for them.

And I have a feeling they’re going to do just that.

America's middle class is growing increasingly squeezed by sagging incomes and soaring expenses, experts told Congress on Wednesday.

Only a few years ago, Americans who considered themselves middle class were scrimping to pay for their kids' college education.
