George Brant, a recent graduate of the James A. Michener Center for Writers at The University of Texas at Austin, has won the 2008 Keene Prize for Literature, one of the world's largest student literary prizes.

Thursday, March 27, All day event, Jessen Auditorium. The first of what is expected to be an annual fiction festival co-sponsored by the Harry Ransom Center, the Michener Center for Writers and the Texas Book Festival featuring 20 promising and prominent contemporary fiction writers.

David Mamet, author of more than 50 plays and 25 screenplays that have earned him a Pulitzer Prize, Oscar nominations and a Tony Award, will visit The University of Texas at Austin campus the first week of February to speak and meet with students in the James A.
