Obama Wants Seamless Security Transition

NPR Programs: Morning Edition  Mon, 11/17/2008 - 5:00am

President-elect Barack Obama says national security and the economy will be priorities when he takes office in January.

He tells CBS' "60 Minutes" it's important to get a national security team in place because transition periods can be vulnerable.

For a portion of the interview, he was joined by future first lady Michelle Obama.

Meet The Press For 11/09/08

Donklephant  Sun, 11/09/2008 - 5:45pm

Just in case you didn’t catch it this morning, one of Obama’s closest associates, Valerie Jarrett, was on.

You’ll be hearing her name a lot more in the coming years.

One really important thing she said that Michelle Obama will be a mom first, and won’t be involved in policy decisions.

In other words, she’s not Hillary 2.0, but the Obama White House could be Camelot 2.0.

Who Is The Real Sarah Palin?

Donklephant  Fri, 10/10/2008 - 9:00am

You know, I’ve been trying to put my finger on why the Bill Ayers stuff bugs me so much.

Sure, it’s an absurd charge, but now I think I realize why it really bothers me.

Why would the McCain campaign put Sarah Palin out there to ask “Who is Barack Obama?” when 95% of the country didn’t know who she was until a month ago?

Gallup: Obama Up By 6

Donklephant  Thu, 08/28/2008 - 2:36pm

Obama scores a 5 point bump from yesterday to regain a sizable lead and hit the 48% mark for the first time since his overseas trip.

Rasmussen: Obama Up By 1, Tied

Donklephant  Thu, 08/28/2008 - 8:52am

With leaners
McCain - 47%
Obama - 47%

Without leaners
Obama - 45%
McCain - 44%

Obama gained one in each set up numbers today so now he leads by 1 in the “without” leaners numbers, but he’s still not seeing any appreciable bump from the initial Biden announcement, and I think the time has officially passed when he could have expected one.

Why Is Cindy McCain Going To Georgia?

Donklephant  Mon, 08/25/2008 - 8:20pm

This is just odd…

McCain is traveling with the U.N.’s World Food Programme, whose work she monitored in Southeast Asia and Africa this spring and summer.

McCain plans to meet with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili and to visit wounded Georgian soldiers. She would also visit representatives of the HALO Trust, which works to remove land mines and on whose board she serves.
