Join the Austin History Center, Austin Public Library, for an informal panel discussion, Vamos A Platicar: Preserving Austin's Mexican American History.

The project plans to honor the top 36 nominees of Mexican-American heritage in Travis County in a future exhibit at the Austin History Museum.

But the museum's Gloria Espitia says they can't honor people they don't hear about. "We actually started doing the nominations and calling for the nominations back in about mid-July and up to date, we've received very little," said Espitia.

Espitia says the project is an effort to better chronicle Mexican American history in Central Texas.
