Get out while you can College should take five years instead of four, urged Claire Harlin in her March 25 Viewpoint "The four-year phenomenon." At first, it seemed a spoof, arguing that because students "are maturing sooner" they should be treated as children longer.

A heartfelt warning I'm unsure of how widespread this tragedy is at UT or whether or not students are aware of this highly traumatic problem in college campuses, but I hope that this letter will find its way into The Daily Texan, if only for the sake of other students' emotional and physical well-being and safety.

Crying out against gossip Regarding Ana McKenzie's thoughtless article about the SG elections ("Empower takes all but one seat in SG elections," Feb. 29): I have never felt so uninformed after reading a Texan article.

The unnecessary comment singling out the losing candidate's emotional response left me wondering what the original intent of the article was.
