rg4n.org  Wed, 06/25/2008 - 7:26pm

Dear RG4N Supporters,

The reduced size of the planned Northcross Wal-Mart is welcome news for us all.

The RG4N Steering Committee thanks everyone for the kind words and expressions of appreciation we are hearing today from neighbors throughout the area and across the city.

RG4N Community Meeting

Start: Jan 11 2008 - 7:00pm End: Jan 11 2008 - 8:30pm Start: Jan 11 2008 - 7:00pm End: Jan 11 2008 - 8:30pm Location: St.

This meeting is very important.

We will discuss our future direction and efforts, possible plans for appealing our legal ruling, and the likely impact of our efforts on the city elections in May.

This past year, we made it clear that the neighborhoods oppose the Lincoln Property Company plan for Northcross Mall and the Wal-Mart Supercenter.

Nearly twelve months ago we asked local residents, "Do you support or oppose building a Wal-Mart Supercenter at Northcross?" 2,759 respondents out of 3,239 said they opposed it.

That's 85.18% who said, "No" to the Lincoln Property plan!

How do you feel about it today? Come to our meeting and let us know.

The newsletter will be distributed by volunteers over a two-week period.

Wal-Mart Supercenter Halted for Now, Court Date Set for November

rg4n.org  Tue, 08/14/2007 - 7:25pm

Mark your calendar for November 13, 2007. That's the date scheduled by RG4N, the City of Austin, and Lincoln Property Company for a bench trial regarding the Northcross Mall lawsuit.

Lincoln has also agreed to not begin any exterior building demolition in the area designated for the planned Wal-Mart Supercenter prior to November 20, 2007.

Under a separate agreement, RG4N will consolidate its lawsuit with the Allandale Neighborhood Association, which also sued the City of Austin and Lincoln over traffic concerns.

We're Going to Court

rg4n.org  Thu, 06/28/2007 - 7:43pm

Today, RG4N filed a lawsuit in Travis County District Court against the City of Austin and Lincoln Property Company to invalidate the developer's site plan.

We can't say it better than our attorney, Brad Rockwell, did:

We have spent months trying to get our City to simply enforce the land use regulations against Lincoln Property and Wal-Mart.

Our City could not be persuaded to follow the law. So now, we've filed suit in order to get a court to order our City and to order Lincoln Property to obey the law.

The site plan approved on Tuesday, June 26, is illegal.

When successful, this suit will get it declared illegal and invalid, and prevent Lincoln Property Company and Wal-Mart from destroying Northcross and turning it into a mammoth big box store.

You can get more details in our full press statement and our lawsuit petition.
