Anti Doping Group Wants Lance Armstrong Evidence

The World Anti-Doping Agency is urging U.S. federal authorities to quickly hand over evidence collected in their lengthy probe into seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong and doping in American cycling.

WADA president John Fahey says federal agencies in the United States gathered "significant evidence" in the criminal investigation that was abruptly closed last week with no charges filed.

Sarkozy's Collapse Doesn't Overshadow Tour De France

France's President Nicolas Sarkozy is in the hospital. He collapsed Sunday while jogging in the heat. The presidential palace says tests have found nothing wrong but he was staying in the hospital overnight for observation.

In Paris Sunday, Spain's Alberto Contador won the Tour de France for the second time in three years. Lance Armstrong was third.

Well, technically Lance is off in France competing, but Third Base Downtown will be showing the first Team Trials stage of the tour, scheduled to start at 7:30am and end by 11am tomorrow morning, July 7th.

Third Base will serve breakfast and mimosas. All profits from the event will go to the Lance Armstrong Foundation, which supports cancer research, diagnosis and survivor care.

The Tour de France starts Saturday in Monaco and finishes July 26 in Paris. The race's image has been severely damaged by numerous doping scandals in recent years.

Seven-time champion Lance Armstrong is back for this year's race. Armstrong has been fighting doping allegations for years.

Shaming is a poor substitute for pricing

This morning's Statesman disclosed -- "outed" might be the better word -- Austin's 10 most profligate water users.  Lance Armstrong sits at the top of the list.

I imagine this public shaming will get them to cut down on their water use.  It may also discourage other big users to cut down, too, since they may worry about ending up on the list.  That's far from certain, though.
