Doctors Fear Effects Of Illegal Immigrant's Arrest

The recent arrest of a popular woman who happens to be an illegal immigrant has some North Carolina doctors concerned.

The woman's immigration status apparently was turned over to authorities after she received medical care.

Doctors worry that illegal immigrants will be afraid to seek care, which might lead to public health problems.

Miss. Makes Working with False Documents a Felony

Beginning July 1, it will be a felony punishable by up to five years in prison to use false documents to work in the state.

The new law is targeted at illegal immigrants. But undocumented workers say no one had a problem with them working in the state to rebuild after Hurricane Katrina.

Folks, this will be sold as “don’t let illegal immigrants vote”, but that’s not the goal. Republicans are pushing it so fewer people will get to vote.

The battle over voting rights will expand this week as lawmakers in Missouri are expected to support a proposed constitutional amendment to enable election officials to require proof of citizenship from anyone registering to vote.
