Last month, Zogby had Obama at 47% and McCain at 42%.

This is a state that Bush took by only 1% in 2004, and barely lost in 2000.

Forty percent of New Mexico's voters are Hispanic, a demographic both heavily Democratic and connected to the military.

In 2004, Hispanics swung right to help President Bush win the state in a time of war. This year, Iraq remains a central issue in the swing state.

Hispanics Breaking Big For Obama

Not that this is any big surprise, but many claimed he would have problems with this voting bloc after the primaries.

Gallup’s numbers prove otherwise…

As Gallup points out, these numbers are bigger than Kerry’s, but not as big as Gore’s, although this may just a shift from Democrats general over the past 8 years as opposed to a problem Obama specifically has.
