From an email several months back:
Writing on behalf of my son. We are completely frustrated with our attorney choice.
They told us 99% it would be dismissed in our first meeting.
Court date arrives and then a new attorney starts on the case. There was no hope it would be dismissed.
The email continues to talk about the parent’s frustration about surcharges, and driver’s license suspension issues that they were never advised about.
Which means, of course, that by the time the email comes to me, the son has already plead guilty.

Waiting in line for a down elevator after getting out of court this morning, a lawyer and a client talking about having the ignition interlock on his car "the whole time" while his case was pending:
Client: I haven’t gotten into any trouble for almost two years.
Lawyer: …and for you, that’s actually really impressive.
The lawyer had a big grin on his face, and the client laughed.

…or “How To Not Get Arrested for DWI”
Background for the Post
I went to see Steanso and his band play some excellent tunes from the 80’s a few months ago and it was a great gig. Folks were talking about it all over the Travis County Courthouse for some time afterwards. Rumor is the setlist got published or at least emailed, and that there might be a second go-round. And that they might take requests in advance. I hope so.

I now have almost 50 half written posts in my folder on my C Drive labeled “Partial Blog Posts”. This time I’m going through each one, and either finishing and publishing it, or deleting it.
[Yes, I’ve made this threat in various forms before, so perhaps I’m the boy who cried wolf…]

My rough transcription – but possibly accurate, I rewound several times - from Obama’s Tuesday night victory speech:
[McCain’s] plan to win in November appears to come from the very same playbook that his side has used time after time and election after election.
Yes, we know what’s coming. I’m not naive. We’ve already seen it.

Via Huffington Post, the first sentence of a new post by the Chief of Congressional & Public Affairs for the U.S.
Drug Enforcement Administration:
The drug trade never fails to surprise those of us at the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
You mean, you keep touting your successes (‘Major Heroin/Cocaine/Marijuana Bust’)… and, yet, nothing ever changes?

Larry King interviewed the apoplectic comedian Lewis Black tonight on CNN (30 minutes past the end of the broadcast and it’s still not linkable – is this the internet age or not? No seriously, I’ll try to link to it when it’s available.)
Last question from Larry was about whether or not the rumor was true: had Black started a blog? Absolutely not. “I refuse to blog,” said Black, continuing:
…just because you can type on a screen doesn’t give you legitimacy as an authority on anything.
