Life On The Sidelines: The Long-Term Unemployed

Over 40 percent of those unemployed -- more than 6 million Americans -- have been out of work for six months or more.

These levels have not been seen since the Great Depression. Economists say the long-term unemployed are vulnerable to losing critical job skills.
