The University will now offer the UT Mail service to its more than 450,000 alumni free of charge, President William Powers Jr. announced on Wednesday.
The University launched UT Mail, powered by Google Inc., last Spring as a life-long email replacement for UT Webmail and the new service has more than 35,000 current student users.
Powers said some of the benefits to UT Mail include showing off UT pride, more storage space and better privacy for users.

Google Inc. is adding a bike lane with its latest online mapping option. The Internet giant tweaked the service so it could recommend routes that would steer bicyclists away from big hills and heavily congested streets.

Some 3D modelers have been some busy bees lately — most of Austin’s downtown landscape has been converted into 3D photo-realistic models and placed inside Google Earth.
But it doesn’t stop there, buildings from the UT Campus, South Congress, and even the East side have been built as well.
We’re starting to have a nice little virtual tour of the city on our hands — thanks Google. If you’re not familiar with Google Earth, it will totally blow your mind.
