President George W. Bush signed the U.S.A. Patriot Act into law 10 years ago. But in the years since then, civil liberties groups have raised concerns about whether the Patriot Act goes too far by scooping up too much data and violating people's rights to privacy.

North Texas College Student Charged with Attempted Use of Weapon of Mass Destruction Twenty-year-old Saudi native and South Plains College student Khalid Ali-M Aldawsari was arrested yesterday after a chemical supplier -- and a delivery service as well -- reported his suspicious purchase to the authorities.



 

For Obama White House, What's The Crisis Du Jour?

A single crisis can define a presidency -- think George W. Bush and Sept. 11, or Jimmy Carter and the Iran hostages.

It's impossible to know now whether President Obama will have a defining moment like that, but options seem to present themselves daily -- from oil gushing into the Gulf of Mexico, to the top U.S. general in Afghanistan being ousted.

I know she was the most buzzed about, but I genuinely didn’t think he was going to go with her because there’s a good chance it’ll turn into a fight given some of her past statements.

Also, some of the left were whispering that they weren’t too impressed with her intellect, so I thought Obama would want to avoid any sort of Harriet Miers situation.
