Cullen Omori, singer/songwriter for the band Smith Westerns, has come a long way since February.
When Austinist last chatted with him at the beginning of 2011, the group had just released their second album Dye It Blonde and were starting a tour, optimistic about the rest of the year.

Many a band these days attempts to fund an album release through the means of Kickstarter, an online platform that aids in acquiring the dollars needed for any number of creative projects.
Only the truly good ones tend to meet their funding needs, however, and Shells is one of those lucky few.

Sic Alps’ latest album, Napa Asylum, is a favorite ‘round these parts.
The San Francisco trio is perfectly adept at blasting out nuggets of raw power or psych-damaged folk sketches—the breadth of their sound is what places them a cut above many of their garage-rock peers.

If you’ve ever heard of Monotonix then you know that just about anything could happen at tomorrow night’s show.
The maniacal three-piece from Tel-Aviv, Isreal have built a reputation for raucous shows that turn into chaotic parties, which have notoriously resulted in them being banned from most of the venues in Tel Aviv.
