Concert raises money for Bastrop fire victims

Texas musical legends Willie Nelson and George Strait donated their time and talent to aid Bastrop residents in rebuilding their community during a benefit concert held at the Frank Erwin Center Monday night.

Fire Relief: The Concert for Central Texas, was proposed by American guitarist Eric Johnson as a way to raise money for the community of Bastrop in light of September’s wildfires.

College GameDay to help kick off Longhorn Network's debut

The group who many avid college football fans are accustomed to starting their Saturday morning with will help Longhorn Network kick off their much-anticipated programming.

From the Longhorn Network, Lowell Galindo, Samantha Steele, and Kevin Dunn will join the ESPN’s College GameDay crew of Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit, Lee Corso, Desmond Howard, and Erin Andrews for a two-hour special from the South Mall on campus Friday, Aug. 26 at 6 p.m.

Season Five Is It for Friday Night Lights

Today's official announcement that the fifth season will be the last for the award-winning, locally-filmed series is not that big a surprise, as rumors had been circling that this was so.

Still, it's disappointing to think that you may no longer run into Mrs. Coach (Connie Britton) at a show, spot Coach (Kyle Chandler) downtown, or find yellow school buses with fictional Texas town names on them parked around town.



 

Friday Night Lights Needs Football Players [Call for Extras]

The locally-filmed TV show Friday Night Lights is searching for paid extras to play Dillon football team-members for season 4.2.

Requirements: you must be between the ages of 18-23 (young enough to look like a high-schooler), taller than 5'7", a Texas resident -- and have proof -- with football experience (but you can't be a current/future college player), have a flexible schedule from today through July, and can't currently be in school or have a full-time job.
