For every specialty showcase presided over by SXSW and its strict badge-holders only policy, about fifteen other events are taking place on the east side and elsewhere, featuring many of the same bands and oftentimes featuring free libations.

The Story Department, in its never-ending quest to bring you Austin’s best in adult (read: 21+) storytelling and free (!) beer, is throwing another Austin Bat Cave benefit tonight at 7:30 at Austin Art + Music Partnership’s warehouse on West Monroe.

This Friday at 7pm, Shangri-La will ask Lamebook.com fans to donate a suggested measly $5, drink free beer, and rock out with Neiliyo and a Learning Secrets DJ set.

This Saturday, the totally awesome and football-field dominant Brunettes have organized a beer pong and washers tournament with free beer and Rudy’s BBQ too!

Team registration is $25 for each event (two-[wo]man team) or $40 for both. Don’t have a partner? Donate an extra $5 and we will pair you with a brunette!

You can also enter one event and get a GAME TICKET for just $40 total.

Registration for washers and beer pong begins at 3pm and the tournament kicks off at 4:30pm.
