John Feehery, who served House Speaker Hastert and several other Republicans on the Hill, had this to say about the GOP party today.

Like Feehery, “I am a Republican and have been all of my life.”  And, I agree that “for the Republican Party to prosper, it must appeal to the close to 40 percent who think of themselves as independent and who are personally centrist in their politics.”



 

Obama, Cheney Different Views On Protecting U.S.

Two different views on national security were presented Thursday, in a pair of speeches in Washington. President Obama argued that protecting the country does not have to come at the expense of core values.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney defended the Bush administration's approach to fighting terrorism after the 9-11 attacks.

Student financial services director appointed

Dr. Thomas Melecki, former vice president for the National Student Loan Program (NSLP), has been appointed director of student financial services at The University of Texas at Austin.

He will oversee all operations of the Office of Student Financial Services (OSFS), the university's on-campus financial aid resource.
