Surgeons have long searched for an artificial heart that won't break down or cause clots or infections. A Texas team thinks the answer may rest in a device that relies on simple whirling rotors to create a continuous flow of blood — which means living with no pulse.

This past spring, the device got its first test in a patient.

Verizon Wireless has successfully completed the first test of its 4G wireless service in the first two markets: Boston and Seattle.

There's another delay for the first test flight for Boeing Co.'s 787 jetliner, a hot-selling aircraft seen as pivotal for the Chicago-based company.

Boeing said it needs to reinforce small areas near the connection of the wings and fuselage before conducting the test flight.

The company had insisted the flight would occur before July.
