Hewlett-Packard unveiled a new laptop lineup that includes an ultra mobile Voodoo model to compete with the MacBook Air.
The Voodoo Envy is 0.70 inches thin and weighs less than 3.4 pounds and starts at $2,099. Judging from the technical specs, however, the Envy isn’t much of a looker relative to the MacBook Air.

Verizon Wireless said Thursday that it will buy Alltel to beef up its network for about $28.1 billion. The deal surfaced on Wednesday via various press reports and Verizon Wireless just made it official (statement).

Back in the day, we built great cars and the best TVs. And our advanced engineering was the envy of the world.
That was a long time ago.
Today "world-class" design and manufacturing is mostly sent off-shore to Europe and Asia. American companies market and distribute products made somewhere else.

For some lucky New Yorkers living in two of Manhattan's largest mega-apartment complexes, Fios super high-speed Internet access is here.
As for the rest of us living in New York City, we'll have to suck it up and deal with sub-10 megabit per second speeds.
