In Iran on Tuesday, students and other protesters stormed the British Embassy in the capital Tehran, smashing windows, throwing firebombs and burning the British flag.
The crowd had gathered at the embassy to protest new severe economic sanctions imposed by Britain, cutting off all banking with Iran.

RABAT, Morocco — The Arab League confirmed the suspension of Syria from the organization on Wednesday and gave its government three days to halt the violence and accept an observer mission or face economic sanctions.
The suspension — first announced by the Arab League on Saturday and confirmed during the meeting — is a surprisingly harsh and highly unusual move for a member of Syria’s standing.

The U.S. government has asked a federal judge to allow it to seize four mosques and a Manhattan skyscraper that are owned by a nonprofit group.
The government says the group is a front for the Iranian government, which has been under economic sanctions for decades.
