Democrat Kay Hagan has defeated Elizabeth Dole in North Carolina and gives the Democrats another pick-up in the Senate.
Many are saying Dole’s last-minute ad accusing Hagan godless backfired because Hagan is actually an elder in her church and Dole ended up looking petty and mean.
I think with the changing demographics in North Carolina and Dole’s poor performance as a Senator, Hagan was going to win anyway.

Obama - 50% McCain - 46%
No change today as we have 18 days left.

The two candidates are even among men while Obama leads by eight points among women.
Obama leads by thirteen percentage points among voters under 40 while McCain leads by six among those over 65.
Voters from 40 to 64 are more evenly divided.

Obama - 52% McCain - 44%
Obama gains another point, and now has hit his highest mark to date in the campaign.
Now only 4% of Rasmussen’s sample is undecided or voting for a 3rd party candidate, and that makes the picture even bleaker for McCain.
