For a town as literate and event-happy as Austin, it is concerning that there are not as many young poetry events where a person can relax, drink a beer, and listen to poetry.

Sure, there are great literary events such as 5 Things! and the Encyclopedia Show that cater to the twenty-something crowd, but there is not much pure poetry.

DMX played something of an under the radar show at The Mansion on Friday.

JC Brooks live at the Mohawk last week wasn’t exactly anti-climactic, but the dismal attendance, pushed-back start time and multiple “warm up” acts did have the unfortunate affect of depleting the crowd and the energy in the room.

The United Nations estimates that the world's population will pass the 7 billion mark Monday. That's a lot of people — but with the help of a sound montage and video, it gets a little easier to see how the Earth can draw that kind of crowd.
