Matt Simmons is as perplexed as anyone that it has fallen to him to take on OPEC, Exxon, the Saudis, and all the other misguided defenders of conventional wisdom in the oil patch.

Why should one investment banker with a penchant for research be required to point out what he regards as the obvious - that from here on out, oil supplies can't meet demand, and if we don't act soon to solve this crisis, World War III could be looming?

Public Now More Optimistic About Iraq

A new Pew Research Poll shows 53% of Americans believe we will succeed in Iraq.

That’s the highest percentage since the summer or 2006 and 11 points higher than last September. The percentage of people believing the war is going “very well” or “fairly well” has also jumped, from 30% six months ago to 48% now.

With 99% reporting, Obama has 253,441 and Clinton has 154,852. I don’t know how many delegates this put him up by now, but I’m pretty sure he regained any ground Clinton got last Tuesday.
