Many are counting the days until Christmas. But Congressional Democrats have a different countdown going on: in 20 days they relinquish their House majority and five Senate seats to Republicans.

Democrats are scrambling to pass as many bills as they can, and that's made for a testy holiday season on Capitol Hill.

The White House is faced with rebellion in the president's party against his agreement with Republicans on which tax cuts to extend.

Some Democrats say they'll vote for the deal but they're not happy about it. Others will try to get deals of their own added to sweeten the package.

It’s pretty easy…the only people that voters like less than Congressional Democrats and Congressional Republicans.

Add in the facts that Republicans have no coherent plan, no definitive leadership and are allowing right wing pundits to organize and promote this Tea Party movement and you have a reality where Dems might actually pick up seats next year.

Seems like a lot of insiders believe so.

National Journal polled lawmakers and found that 62% of Dems think it’s “very likely,” while 33% of them think it’s “somewhat likely.”

President Obama wants to overhaul the nation's health care system, and he would like it done in bipartisan fashion.

But the more details congressional Democrats reveal about their health care plans, the louder Republicans protest.

That raises the question: How many Republicans do the Democrats really need — or want — to support their health care plans?
