The Austin City Limits Music Festival began its 10th year with something unfamiliar to Central Texans -- rain.

A short rain shower coincided with crowds pouring through gates at Zilker Park at 11 a.m.

One hundred and thirty bands are playing.

A public service announcement for anyone who hasn’t yet checked their e-mail: the first round of early-bird tickets for the 2011 Austin City Limits Music Festival will go on sale tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.

If you’re subscribed to the festival’s E-List you should have received an e-mail by now containing a user name and password to buy the early bird passes, which cost $165.

A small number of $50 “souvenir” tickets sold out quickly last week — seemingly as speedily as they were made available.

The Austin City Limits Music Festival will move back a couple of weeks and return to its mid-September origins in its tenth anniversary year in 2011, taking place from September 16-18, according to the festival’s official website.

Levon, LaMontagne hit Bass Nov. 12

The Bass Concert Hall has confirmed that the Levon Helm Band and singer Ray LaMontagne will play a double bill on Friday, November 12.

Tickets go on sale this Friday at noon at the Bass Concert Hall ticket office, most H-E-B stores and online at TexasPerformingArts.org.

When Helm and his band played Austin City Limits Music Festival in 2008, he he was recovering from surgery and didn’t sing.

On the current tour, however, Helm has handled most of the vocals. And, as always, his drumming is exquisite.
