Chickens in the City: Austin's 3rd Annual Funky Chicken Coop Tour Austin, TX October 1, 2010 - On Saturday, April 23, 2011, Austin-area poultry keepers will open their backyards to the public for the third year in a row, to show off their chickens and their urban coops.

After such a huge turnout for the 2010 tour, with at least 1500 visitors, we knew we'd be having a great time with this year's

On Saturday, April 3, 2010, from 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Austin area residents with chicken coops will open their backyards to the public to show them off.

Allandale will be well-represented in this year's tour. It's the second year...

About 10 years ago I did work exchange at the beautiful Hostel in the Forest in Georgia.

The agreement was room and board in exchange for various tasks required to keep the community functioning.

I built a floating raft for the lake, removed the snakes from the chicken coop in the morning, cooked in the kitchen, cleaned the tree houses and worked in the garden.

My forte, however, turned out to be toilet duty.
