The "For Sale" signs hanging on the Austin Lyric Opera's headquarters on Barton Springs Road make it awkward to discuss the group's 25th anniversary, which will be celebrated Saturday with the opening of "The Magic Flute," the Mozart opera that marked the beginning of the company in 1986.

Over the past weeks serious wildfires in Central Texas have caused devasting damages to homes, land and businesses and left many without basic necessities.
Directly or indirectly, it is hard to find someone in our community who has not felt the effects of these fires.

This Friday, September 9th, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., HGTV will be posting up at the Hyatt Regency Austin on Barton Springs Road in search of Texas' next "Design Star." It seems HGTV is willing to bet that Austin has its fair share of charismatic and accomplished interior designers, architects and overall design personalities.
Design Star is HGTV's top-rated reality competition and is returning for its sixth season.

The Austin Lyric Opera has announced that it plans to sell its headquarters building on Barton Springs Road, as well as its music school, in order to save money.
No new facilities for either have been identified yet, but there has been a task force assigned to incorporate the school as its own non-profit organization.

You can call it Countdown to Casapocalypse. A digital clock now sits in the dining room of Casa de Luz, Austin's beloved macrobiotic restaurant, marking the number of days till relocation or closure.
That's because the 20-year-old Austin institution, located just off Barton Springs Road, is locked in a legal battle with the City of Austin over parking.

California’s Lagunitas Brewing Co. will be the focal point for two local beer dinners.
On Jan. 18 at 7 p.m., Zax Restaurant (312 Barton Springs Road, 481-0100, www.zaxaustin.com) will pair five courses with Lagunitas beers for $50.
On Jan. 19, 24 Diner (600 N.
