The Austin Police Department is enforcing a "No-Refusal" initiative for Super Bowl Sunday between the hours of 7:30 p.m. - 5:00 a.m.
The DWI initiative is an effort to enforce DWI laws, keep the public safe, and to conduct blood search warrants on suspects who refuse to give a breath or blood specimen as required by law.

As temperatures decrease, so do the number of Occupy Austin protestors willing to demonstrate outside City Hall, said Caitlin Pigford, 16 year-old protester on the verge of homelessness.
In its fourth month at City Hall, the Occupy Austin movement is losing stamina, and members blame the weather, Pigford said.
Protest signs now serve as cushions and blockades against the wind on City Hall steps instead of being held high, she said.

Police advise caution after a murder and two assaults occurred in the North Campus area early Sunday morning.
APD officials are in the process of investigating all three incidents.
The Austin Police Department investigated a 9-1-1 call received at 2:46 AM on New Year’s Day.
The call described an injured woman at her home in the 3100 block of King Street. The woman, later identified as Esmeralda Barrera, was pronounced dead after the arrival of the police.

Some West Campus residents said they are taking extra precautions when walking home at night after felony charges were filed Monday against a man in the case of an attempted sexual assault perpetrated against a UT student between 2 and 3 a.m. on Nov. 1 as she left her sorority house, according to an arrest affidavit.
Joseph Edward Barkley, 23, remained in Travis County Jail on Tuesday for both the attempted sexual assault and felony charges in the case of an aggravated robbery that occurred on Nov. 8 and left Barkley with stab wounds, the affidavit said.
