Austin City Council looks to ban smoking in public parks

Sparked by Texas wildfires and crowding at area festivals, Austin City Council passed a proposal Thursday to ban smoking in all public parks.

Friends of Brentwood Park Workday - Dec 5th

The Crestview Green Neighbor Initiative is starting a new offshoot group, Friends of Brentwood Park (FOBP).

This new group has signed an Adopt-A-Park agreement with the Austin Parks and Recreation Department. Our first work day is scheduled for Saturday, December 5th from 9 am to noon.

Our task will be simple but important: spreading mulch! We will mulch several bare areas under large trees where the soil has been compacted by lots of use, and around newly planted young trees.



 

Good news. The tree planting is back on for March 28th!

Official hours are 9 am - 1 PM, at Northwest Park but the work will probably be finished by 11:30 am.The Austin Parks Foundation is generously providing the irrigation for these trees, to the tune of $8,000.Please show up, and...
