The Hike and Bike Trail that runs alongside Ladybird Lake in downtown Austin is one of the cities most-valued recreational areas. 3,000 - 15,000 people use the trails each day to run, walk, bike, or relax.
Unfortunately, the trail loop is incomplete: a 1.1 mile gap on the south shore on either side of I-35 is a problematic hole in a much-loved 10-mile loop.

The Carillon has always been a bit of a contradiction.
It's a big, expensive, formal room - run by a young, cutting-edge chef. It's too highly regarded to be called Austin's best kept secret - yet it's tucked away on the South end of the UT campus, far from most of Austin's best dining options.
And while it's technically a 'hotel restaurant' - the food is anything but.
