Austin's New Parks Planner to Discuss Pocket Parks - SN Mtg Tues 8/17

Kelly Snook, the new Parks and Recreation assistant director of operations, planning, design and construction, will speak to Sustainable Neighborhoods on Tuesday, August 17, about planning and design of pocket parks along transit corridors like Airport, Anderson, Burnet and Lamar.

Snook is also the incoming president of the Texas chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects.



 

New green landscape rating system unveiled

A partnership of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center at The University of Texas at Austin and the U.S.

Botanic Garden today released the nation's first rating system for the design, construction and maintenance of sustainable landscapes, with or without buildings.

Wildflower Center wins Olmsted Medal

The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center at The University of Texas at Austin has been selected to receive the 2008 Olmsted Medal for contributions to landscape architecture from the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA).

The award is given for contributions to landscape architecture policy, research, education, project planning and design.
