The documentary For All Mankind (Dir.

Al Reinert ) inspired Eric Zimmerman’s project We Chose to Go to the Moon with its footage of the Apollo missions from 1968 to 1972.

In 1989, For All Mankind was selected as the Audience Favorite and the Grand Jury Winner at Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for an Academy Award.

The film participated in many major film festivals in 1989 and 1990.
