The last I heard, Phara's Mediterranean Restaurant & Casbah was hoping to open in the old Ararat space in August of this year (see
http://www.austinchronicle.com/gyrobase/Issue/story?oid=oid:494083), but that didn't happen so maybe it's taking longer to bring the building up to code?

Neighbors and friends (if I have any left). I did indeed write the
letter to the Chronicle that Jody was posting a link to. I don't
think he understood my letter, though, because I was clearly not

Yep, its these guys (whoever they are) that are distorting the truth.

Come on, neighbors!

We NEED these 259 apartment units (plus the commercial apartments)
that empty onto quiet residential streets without sidewalks.

The 175 units that are now allowed by code is simply not enough.

Let's rally behind these honest, forthright guys that are NOT
building student housing (though they cannot prevent students from
living there)
